He Can Read...He Can Read!!

God has blessed us with 3 siblings Mary Jane, Jennelyn, and James.  These children are three children that need an extra dose of love, encouragement, and prayer.

These children have experienced more of life than any three young children should have to experience.  Their mother was intoxicated and crossing the street when a truck and hit and killed her.  Their father is an alcoholic and not in their children's lives.  He only comes around when he is drunk.  The children's older brother is currently with the Department of Social Welfare and Development for stealing.  These sweet children are currently living with her mother’s friends.  These children definitely needed an opportunity to go to school and we are so glad Hope for Tomorrow could provide that for them.

Mary Jane and Jenelyn began taking James to school with them even though he was not enrolled in school.  The children’s teacher asked the girls about James and found out he had never been in school and took it upon her self to get him enrolled.  When the teacher asked Gepher if we could add James to Hope for Tomorrow we could not say no...and after last week we are so glad we didn't!  Last week God showed us exactly what the After School Program along with a little love, support, and encouragement can do for a child.

Mary Jane and Jenelyn came by the church to see Gepher one afternoon. As Gepher was talking to the girls, they began to tell him about how school was going. Their eyes lit up as they said "kuya, kuya James can read!! He can read as fast as we do!!"
They were so excited and proud of their brother. The look in their eyes and the excitement in their voice said it all.  They never thought they'd ever achieve this milestone...learning how to read!

All three of these children are making HUGE progress and its so exciting to see the amount of pride they have in themselves and one another as they are achieving new heights they never dreamed they could reach.
